Love is in the air...

This first card I made for my Niece and her new Fiance.... Congratulations!   Sadly these cards have either been eaten by Australia Post *or* were "disposed" of rather than posting :-(
This one was a thank you for my Niece and her new Fiance for a lovely Christmas... *thank you*

These were my crafting companions in the heat of the day... Balla Balla was happy to be in the cool and sleep but Mr Rex decided to help me out every time I tried to colour lol.

Last but not least... an Anniversary card I made for my parents :-)

Happy Crafting *hugs* Sarah

Organising Chaos.

As my title suggests... I had a few days off to clear my desk... well ok I pulled the whole office apart and rearranged it because my desk was blocked from daylight by the cupboard (and I did the washing, ironing, floors, cook and do swimming lessons with Mr B lol).  Today my chaos... got a helping hand... my Dear Husband installed the first of my rails so I can take my pens and tools off of my desk!

The last basket will have my narrow Cuttlebug folders in and hopefully I will have a second and third rail put up for my punches.  I find with having my punches in boxes until now I do not tend to use them so much as out of sight out of mind seems to be an issue lol.  Anyway... thank you Dear Husband :-)  The left hand side has ballpoint pens and gel pens - I use these in my Silhouette.  The second basket has my permanent markers - a rainbow of colours.  Third are my tools, mini pens, scissors and knives.  That is my new rail... I am very happy with it.

Often on my crafting browsing I come across discussions about storage and organisation in the craft room so I figured I would share some of the things that work for me.
Unmounted and cling stamps... DVD and CD cases ... I learned not to use the coloured CD cases as these caused my stamps to melt and liquify.  Labels / pictures on the outside... stamps on the inside, label the spine.

Ribbons... easy peasy Ribbon boxes... plastic or cardboard boxes; Crop-A-Dile (or hole punch and eyelet tool) and Eyelets.  That's it!  Punch, Eyelet... thread ribbons, lids on... done!  The best thing I have found from these boxes is no tangles!

Spellbinders and other thin cutting dies... they live on the inside of my cupboard door!  I took 4 cheap magnetic whiteboards... loaded the whiteboard side with double sided tape... then more double sided tape after they fell off *chuckle*... stuck them to the door and loaded them up with all my cutting dies!  This if find is so much easier than digging through folders and boxes every time I need a die.

Quilling paper.  I originally had these in jars... they tangle, rip and tear.  So as with the Spellbinders... to the inside of the cupboard door we went.  Adhesive plastic hooks and bulldog clips.  So easy and yet it makes things so very much easier!

Dew Drop inks... oh these have over the years been stacked, put in drawers, in baskets.... they just FALL OVER... who designed them? lol Fall over no more... Paper crafting to the rescue.  Card stock, score board and score tool, double sided tape and basket.

Wooden stamps... in drawers... keeps them dust free and easily accessible.

Buttons, small stationary bits (like paper clips), paper flowers and other useful things end up in jars at the top of my shelves... I find this useful (as I can see what I need), pretty and functional.

Ok that's it from me... Happy Crafting *hugs* Sarah

Welcome Baby! with Popcorn.

G'day again!
Those of you that stop by regularly know that I used the same stamp (Popcorn Bear - Shooting Star by Crafters Companion) yesterday... in fact i coloured two simultaneously as I have so many cards that need making for the year! This card took me a while to put together since I had NEVER made a rosette before... ta da!  I went looking for my stork stamp.... *gone* asked Mr T who always knows where everything is in my office (funny that!)... "Yes Mum you have one." "Where?" *shrug* ... at that point I called off the search and put it down that the stork has hopefully gone across the road to the neighbours house to deliver a baby... I hope for her sake! (That's who the card is for.)
So online I went... and woo hoo SVG file... that works with my Silhouette Cameo... so the Stork freebie is from craft gossip - thank you so much for having that online!  So it got resized, traced, drawn (I LOVE my new pen holder!), offset and cut (times 2) and then coloured with my trusty Faber Castell Pencils.

I then scored the card base and cut it using my Ultimate Crafter's Companion.  I then cut the white "mats"merging the biggest base one with "Crocheted Lace"Silhouette file which I edited to give a more finished look - rather than ending ragged at the edges.
I then spent some time looking for my silicone embossing mat... only to remember I gave it to a friend lol... so to the kitchen!?!  Yes really... to the kitchen!  Grabbed a square silicone baking tray I had picked up at the $2 shop.  Grabbed some scissors and hacked out the base (Hubby's face was a picture at this point - baring in mind it was 9pm and I am in my PJs lol)... Quick explanation and back to the craft room.
I grab my Fiskars plates and find the one called "Prints" which is a baby foot and hand print type design.  I had never used this particular one before so that is another craft item that has now been used! :-)  (For my Cuttlebuggers... A plate, Fiskars Texture Plate, cardstock, Embossing Mat [baking tray lol], C plate).  This does not give as deep an impression as the embossing folders but it does suffice!

I used the Provocraft / Cuttlebug "Vintage" die to make the two corners as it needed something and being a "boy" card... no flowers!  Then it was just a matter of sticking it all together.

A Recycled Christmas.

This year I am determined not to leave my Christmas cards until the last minute (like how many other years?) so I am doing Christmas Challenges through the year to keep me motivated.

The first challenge I am entering is an Up-cycled/Recycled/Free Christmas Card Challenge at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge.

The second challenge at Laineys Crafty Space - Christmas Fun is Anything Goes!  As long as it is a Christmas Card.

The third challenge at Challenges 4 everyone is Anything Goes as well.

The fourth challenge at Card Makin' Mamas is also Anything Goes!

Ok so on with the card... the challenge to recycle/up-cycle... the boys had rescued some Christmas cards a few years ago that someone was throwing out!  (Yes perfectly good cards - not even written in!)

  • So I cut out Santa... completely on one (very fiddly!), then on the second one I cut the sack, hand, cuff, coat bottom ruffle and Santa's head!  Mounted them all on foam to give the image some depth.  Next B handed me the Christmas Tree card (even more fiddly lol) and so I cut that.
  • I then scored some white card to make a box shape on the front of the card (Thank you Ultimate Crafters Companions score board.. soooo easy!).
  • My lovely Silhouette Cameo next was employed to cut the window out of black card.
  • I scored in some detail and mounted with both foam and tape to give dimension.
  • I then manually cut the "window"out of the front panel of the "box".
  • I hand measured and cut a front panel then embossed it in my Cuttlebug using a Sizzix - Tim Holtz embossing folder to give a brick effect.
  • The window got a backing of recycled embossing folder packaging as the window. (Which made taking photos a nightmare as I have a white iphone lol)
  • So on the front of the "box" I put the brick panel then the window on using double sided tape.
  • I mounted some nice "wall paper" from my stash, added a stamped Chandelier and heat embossed with gold.
  • Santa and the tree then made themselves at home in the room with some handy-dandy double sided and foam.
  • I sealed the box then made and mounted a card and double sided it on the back.
  • The finishing touch some glue and Flower Soft "Polar Soft" - and if you are going to use this... TURN OFF THE FAN *chuckle*  Snow in Western Australia.. who would have thought?!?
